Prof. Dr. Acar Baltas “III. Women’s Leadership Development and Strengthening Training and Mentoring Program in Higher Education” organized by Düzce University Management and Leadership Application and Research Center (LİDERİM) and Women’s Studies Application and Research Center (DÜKAM) and contributed by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. , came together with 30 female academics.
On the last day of the Baltas Training and Mentoring Program, he held the session titled “Reflecting the Potential in Women Leaders and Managing in Turkish Culture”.
“Do our emotions affect our decisions?” Prof. started his presentation by asking the question: Dr. Acar Baltas said, “No one thinks that their emotions affect their decisions. Our decisions are extremely affected by our emotions. People do not remember what they experienced. They remember the meanings they attributed to what they experienced. These meanings are determined by emotions.”
“Managing people means managing their emotions. For this, we must be aware of our own emotions,” said Prof. Dr. Acar Baltas added that people can make wrong decisions in times of anger, joy and opportunity.
Prof. continued his presentation with the words “Leadership is influencing. This is achieved by establishing relationships.” Dr. Baltas stated that the common denominator of management and leadership is to get results through others. Emphasizing that the main ingredient of leadership is trust, Prof. Dr. Addressing the participants, Acar Baltas said, “Your duty is not an administrative duty. You are people who will leave a mark in the institutions you work in, make a difference, and bring out the best in people.” He ended his presentation with these words:
