WHY ARE WE ABSENT IN FOOTBALL?
Turkey’s population is 81 million
We boast at every opportunity that “we have the youngest population in Europe”.
The splendor of our new stadiums is the talk of the town; our infrastructure facilities are fantastic!
TV broadcasting rights, sponsorship income, spectator revenues and product sales are astonishing.
Despite all these positive developments, why are football clubs in debt?
And why can’t our clubs find 11 Turkish footballers? And why is it that the majority of the squads playing matches are made up of over-aged foreign players? Fortunately, there are Turkish kids growing up in Europe; they are saving both the club teams and the national team.
What is lacking? Why can’t we achieve lasting success like other European countries?
I asked these vital questions to experts in the field.
