MANAGING IN TURKISH CULTURE

MANAGING IN TURKISH CULTURE

Acar Baltas Ph.D.

It is a look at business life through the eyes of a psychologist;

The words “loyalty”, “hatır” and “heart” have no equivalent in Western languages. Because these concepts do not exist in the cultures that originate these languages. On the other hand, the concepts of “vision”, “mission”, “strategy” and “plan” do not have equivalents in our language. According to our tradition, “the caravan is formed on the road, the heat comes from behind”.

Language psychology, which reflects a culture’s way of thinking, reveals the reasons for the formation or non-formation of such concepts and their projections in today’s life. This book, just like the psychology of language, investigates how the Turkish business world is affected by its own cultural values and aims to show how a leader who takes these values into consideration will be successful both in the country and in the world. Because success in business life is achieved not by using imported processes and criteria as they are, as is widely admired and tried to be implemented, but by adapting them to the style and texture of your own culture and implementing them.
