HRdergi’s 5th Employee Engagement Summit was held on March 5, 2015 at Marriot Asia Hotel. Baltas Group made its groundbreaking speech titled “The Secret of Loyalty: From Satisfied Employee to Dedicated Employee”.
Opening the session, Prof. Dr. After drawing the general framework of the speech, Acar Baltas left the floor to Baltas Group Counseling Psychologist Seher Önelge and Education Program Manager Selin Selamet.
Önelge shared that many companies conduct “employee satisfaction” research and that four unchanging findings emerged at the end of these studies. These findings generally include; He added that the aim is to increase communication within the organization, spread the culture of appreciation, provide management training to managers, and improve wages and benefits.
In his foreword speech, he stated that the results obtained from these researches, “Do they serve employee loyalty? Does it establish a relationship between employee loyalty and willingness to do business? Does it affect motivation and increasing performance? He also mentioned that it should be questioned with questions.
Stating that there are hygiene and motivational factors that affect job performance, Önelge shared that hygiene factors such as status, wage, working conditions and job security create employee satisfaction and loyalty. He mentioned that the absence of hygiene factors means a lot, but their presence does not contribute to increasing performance, and continued his words as follows: “However, in order to increase the motivation and performance of the employee, he must experience a sense of meaning, find the opportunity to improve and learn himself, take responsibility and experience a sense of success.” . In this way, the employee moves from the position of “lying happy” to being among the “dragging employees” who are integrated with the mission of the institution, find themselves in the values of the institution and are excited about the goals.”
Continuing to speak after Seher Önelge, Selin Selamet shared that a culture and a leader that creates a sense of meaning in the organization is a prerequisite for ensuring employee loyalty and included examples shared by the participants during the training she has given so far.
Selamet conveyed to the participants with examples that the values of the employees should coincide with the values of the institution, and stated that otherwise, the employee will evaluate the alternatives presented to him at the first opportunity.
Selamet pointed out that institutions that want to turn their employees into wholeheartedly dedicated employees should first assign their employees to appropriate places in their institutions with scientific evaluation tools. He then touched upon the importance of creating a culture so that employees can experience a sense of meaning and the existence of leaders who support this culture.
At the end of the speech, Prof. Dr. Acar Baltas ended the speech by touching on the messages Seher Önelge and Selin Selamet shared with the participants. https://www.youtube.com/embed/B44No6wTlgo
