Baltas Group participated in the Expat Management Summit 2013, hosted by HR Magazine on February 7, 2013, with its speech titled “Western managers in Turkish culture, Turkish managers in different cultures”.
Prof. started his speech by telling the stories of foreign coaches of major football teams in Turkey. Dr. Acar Baltas continued his conversation with Baltas Group Education Program Manager İdil Sevil. In general of the speech; It was also shared that in the ever-shrinking world, employees not only speak different languages, but also think differently, have different values, beliefs, expectations and ways of doing business, have to get along, solve problems and get results. It was also stated that understanding the impact of culture on communication and business conduct and intercultural differences are critical for the success of these teams.
In the speech, it was also stated that culture shapes a person’s values, mindset, communication, and behavioral models, and since a person’s own culture is as natural as the air he breathes, only an individual who communicates with people from different cultures becomes aware of differences and contradictions. For this reason, it was stated that it will help to cope with these differences, foresee possible communication problems and their solution methods, and thus ensure that energy remains focused on work.
