Dynamics 2015 16th International Project Management Congress was held by Istanbul Project Management Association on 16-17 April 2015 at Kozyatağı Hilton. Prof. at the congress. Dr. Zuhal Baltas drew a different framework for project management with her “In-house Coaching Approach That Creates a Sense of Meaning”.
Prof. Dr. Zuhal Baltas summarized her presentation in the session held on April 16, 2015 between 16:45 – 17:30 under the management of Selcan Gürsu as follows:
“Although coaching is a well-worn concept today, it has an important place in business life. In-house coaching, which is a learning and development project that yields rapid results, identifies the employee with objective evaluations, provides the company with intellectual knowledge, creates job satisfaction and increases productivity. A well-founded in-house coaching project is woven into the corporate culture and strengthens the bond between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction. Thus; It contributes to the creation of competent employees, strong teams, dynamic business systems and sustainable corporate culture.
While external coaches are expected to have formal training in psychology, business management, company structures and coaching; What is expected from in-house coaches is knowledge of the industry and the organization, business knowledge and volunteering to help others. A person who volunteers to coach needs the general psychological knowledge required by coaching and the studies in which he will gain coaching skills. Therefore, it gains the opportunity to recognize personality, establish values, focus on the employee’s strengths, and contribute to the culture of creativity and innovation. By combining the competencies he has gained with his business knowledge and experience, he guides his equal or subordinate to improve their job performance positively.
The in-house coaching approach, which shapes employees’ potential in line with individual development and corporate expectations, creates a sense of meaning in employees who realize that they can change and develop. “Works carried out with this approach are the equivalent of the master-apprentice relationship in Turkish culture in contemporary business life.”
